Kamakura

Kamakura is one hour by train from Tokyo.

 

Kamakura is a historical place and you can feel Japan culture. It has a significant connection to Zen. During the Kamakura period, samurai practiced Zen to keep their mind calm and clear. Japanese culture was influenced by ZEN -  such as Noh Theater, the Tea Ceremony, Japanese Gardening, and Kaiseki Ryouri.  Japan's culture has its roots in Zen.

Kamakura is the city which history, modernity and beautiful nature merge. It's known for its beautiful beaches, lush green hills, and historic temples and shrines.

Kamakura retains a sense of traditional Japanese culture, and its historic atmosphere is well-preserved. The city's narrow streets, wooden buildings, and old-style houses are great places to experience traditional Japanese culture.
